This is random, but I felt like blogging about it, I guess because what is the point of having a blog if you can't divulge some silly little things from time to time?

So anyway, Saturday night I "let" my husband go out to a friend's house for a poker game, while I stayed in with the sleeping baby.  I wasn't doing anything particularly exciting, I know it involved my usual routine of sitting on the couch with the laptop and my phone nearby.

Now, you might be aware that I am a raging geek.  I am counting down the days to the new Star Trek movie (even though, as a die-hard fan, I have some "concerns" about it not following canon...ok that was embarassing to even admit here) and I would almost always prefer to be talking to someone online rather than face-to-face.  I think I've mentioned before that during my impressionable teen years I wanted to be like Sandra Bullock in "The Net."

Well....imagine my dismay when I received a text message from the future.  The number the text came from was really long--definitely not a real number that I would even try to call back.  There was no actual message, the text was blank.  The kicker was the date stamp on the message, September 5, 2021.  I get a bunch of annoying telemarketer calls on my cellphone, which I can usually confirm are 'junk' calls by quickly googling the number.  I googled this loooong weird number and the only search result I got, yes the ONLY one, was an equation for the speed of light.

Speed of light.  You can't make this stuff up!  I instantly started getting freaked out and I called Marc to confirm that he was not just trying to scare me while I was at home by myself.  I called my brother, who thought it seemed like a good omen that I am still alive in 2021.  Um, I better still be alive in 2021, Rayna will only be 13!  Oh and I'll only be 39.  So then I imagined myself, still a geek, in 2021 sending a text message to herself in the past just to be funny.  And I thought "get a life future Bay!!" :)

So I'm curious to see if anyone else has had a similar type message.  I have since received another blank message from this same date, from a different very long number (this one apparently means nothing).  Those logical minded people I know tell me that this seems like some sort of viral marketing, spam or other general solicitation.  I called AT&T and they gave me the national do-not-solicit number (which is 888-382-1222, if you're interested).  But I'm curious to hear your theories, especially if they are colorful.  One of my girlfriend's told me that maybe the island wants me back.  I love it!

ROTFLMAO, this is hysterical. I can totally imagine how weirded out you must have been because I would have reacted the same way. I had no idea you were so nerdy...no wonder I like you.

the same thing happened to me, except i got the date of december 6th, 2019. and of course, the text message was blank. my friend said, if anything weird happened on that date she'd consider me a freak and throw a spoon at me. what a good friend. but honestly, it creeped me out. it seems like a sign or a warning, ya know?

I jest received a text message from my girlfreind. I know this sounds normal but the time that I received the message was at 12:57 EST. I looked at the time stamp. The time stamp read 7/11/2009 1:03 am EST. I was talking to her through AIM at the time. I asked her if she sent I text message and she said no. I then sent a reply to the text and she received it.

I got one that said the number was unknown, blank text, and the date was 11/24/2057. Weird, because i got it on 11/24/2009.

Interesting... I too received a message from the future. Mine was from Dec of 2019, but it came from a short series of numbers, and like yours, the message was blank. It is more interesting to note that immediately before I received it, I got a text message from a friend, which was half english text, and the other half, a series of random symbols which are not available on cell phones. After some research, I learned that the symbols mostly represent different planetary alignments, but some I could not solve.

Very strange...

I too have recieved strange text messages. The first text message i had recieved it about 2 years ago. It had the date of 12/6/19 and the time said 11:30 pm. I kept it in my phone for a while and then finally deleted it a few months later. Then about a week after my friend died i recieved the same message (blank message) again from the same number. I found that very strange and kept it there for a few months again. About a week ago i recieved a message from the past. This time it wasnt blank. It was dated 12/31/04 and had the time of 12:04 am. Today i recieved the message from the future again. It has the same time and date but a this time it has a different phone number. I recognize the area code but im not sure if i should call it. Last time i had called the number from the future it sounded really wierd. My friend called the number from the past and said it was an international number. What does it mean?
