My dog Buddie Love eats better than I do. I say this because he eats Merrick brand Turducken dog food, which is an organic, American-made dog food (I wish I ate all organic). It is quite pricey, but after the death of my first and super beloved Dalmatian, Freddie, I made the vow that I would feed my next dog the best food that I could.
We've had Buddie for almost 4 years and this was before all of those scary pet-food recall issues. When they went on, I did have peace of mind knowing that his food is from a reputable (and Christian, family-based) company. Oh and did I mention that the food is pricey? lol... That is one issue that gets me time and again when I pay just about $50 for a 30 lb. bag.
If you live in my general area & have a pet, you should check out Cutter's Mill. There are stores in Princeton & Cherry Hill, as well as Chalfont & Paoli, PA. It's a great place to find natural and organic pet products and here's my favorite part: they love to send out coupons. Sign up in the store or online and you'll get coupons both mailed and emailed to you, some for as much as 25-30% off one item.
They've been sending me coupons for a while now, but I don't always go to the store because the one near me is not exactly the most convenient location for us. But a couple days ago I went into the store with my mom and I asked the question I never asked before: "are the 'one item' coupons good on food?" The sales person told me that they are valid on any regular price item, and food is rarely on sale, so yes.
Epiphany! Armed with my 30% off coupon, Buddie's 30 lb. bag of Turducken was only $35. I just got another email from Cutter's Mill with a 25% off one item coupon, and I don't have to tell you that these are big savings!

Anyway, the blog For the Mommas has a tentative list of the coupon insert schedules for 2010 (when the coupons will be in the newspaper). I find this helpful, as I don't have a newspaper subscription (I can't stand having the newspaper lying about the house, which is what inevitably happens) so I just buy the paper on Sundays.
In case you didn't know, there aren't coupon inserts on the weekends of holidays (Easter, Memorial Day, etc.) so you don't have to bother with getting the paper those days.

HappyBaby has a coupon out for a free product! You can choose from HappyBaby frozen foods, cereal, puffs, bites and melts. All of these products are available at Whole Foods and I've seen some at Babies R Us and Target. Click here to print the coupon.
Coupon is one per customer and according to Money Saving Mom, is probably only available for a very limited time!
I have tried the frozen purees, cereals, bites and puffs from HappyBaby and Rayna has enjoyed almost all of them (except for the Gobble Gobble which she flat out refused). Can't wait to use this coupon on some cereal!

I had my first rude couponing experience at Wal-mart last weekend. First, I'll say that I almost always bring the Target coupon policy with me when I'm shopping there. I also have a newspaper insert they had put out ages ago that showed the savings with a Target coupon *combined* with a manufacturer coupon, just in case my local store gave me some problems like they had in the past.
Wal-mart, however, has always been easy going to me. Whenever I go, the cashier scans every coupon dutifully and never blinks twice. Yet a little voice told me to just go ahead and print the Wal-mart coupon policy & put it in my Couponizer bag.
Well, last weekend I went with the family to Wal-mart to pick up some of the deals that were available. This definitely included some printable coupons. As soon as I got to the register, the cashier asks, "did you print these coupons from the Internet?" to which I say 'yes.' She then says, "well we don't take those" and starts to hand them back to me.
Hubby was very impressed with my Matrix-like speed in whipping out their policy--I had *just* printed it--and began to inform my cashier that my coups were legit. Cashier calls manager. Manager says, "we do not take Internet coupons" and I calmly begin to hand her the coupon policy that I say I have "just printed" from the Walmart website. Manager does not want to see my coupon policy, but at this point thinks that I am staring at her nametag...which I wasn't! I hadn't even gotten to that level yet, I'm still positive everything is going to go just fine. She then dramatically grabs her nametag and makes a dramatic show of showing it to me and says, "The name's Deanna* since that's what you're looking at!"
Well hold up, sister. I was NOT looking at your name tag and there is no need to get snippy here. I flabbergastedly announced that I was not even looking at her name tag, and then she seemed to calm down. I'm not a psycho, I just want to use a coupon =)
So this story is getting really long, but then Deanna (why did I change her name, when she is not really "innocent?" lol) realizes that my coupons scan and are perfectly legitimate, but she still has to check with a mysterious manager that is somewhere in the front offices. During this time, Deanna stops to chat with whoever she pleases and takes her grand ol' time. When she does come back she says that "the accounting person is not in, but HE said we could take them if they scan." That was all very nebulous and I think she was just faking, but whatever. I politely said thank you and I left paying not even $3 for two bags of stuff.
Meanwhile, my husband was very proud of me because I remained calm and got my way in the end. But, I stuck to my guns only because what I was trying to accomplish was perfectly legitimate and my right as a customer of their store. Now we all know that this is usually a rare occurance, but it has definitely served as a reminder to me to know store coupon policies and keep a written copy of them with me, if available.
And be sure to check your local grocery stores for their coupon policies and carry those with you, also!

I got the email last night that I was chosen to be a Purex Insider! This means I will be one of the first to try new Purex products and participate in special promotions and giveaways!
First, Purex is sending me their new 3-in-1 sheets to try. You may recall me mentioning that I really hate doing laundry because it is in my dank basement...and I have a bit of a phobia of basements. Anything that would get me out of the basement quicker really would preserve me some sanity! The new Purex 3-in-1 sheet is like a dryer sheet that contains the detergent and fabric softener; it goes in the washer right at the beginning and contains the soap! Great, no standing there in fear and measuring out soap and fabric softener =) Then, when the clothes are done in the washer, everything goes right into the dryer and the sheet's last hurrah is as a dryer sheet.

I have tried all different ways of coupon organization in the past: the little accordian file (problem? too small, couldn't see the coupons well), the keeping-the-insert-whole method (I ended up never clipping them) and even the big binder with baseball card pages method (It was so hard to fill and empty that I dreaded opening it). A little over a year ago I heard about the Couponizer. It looked like everything that I was looking for to keep me organized and I bought it immediately (it didn't hurt that it was only $19.95).
Ever since I started using it, the Couponizer has been a winner for me. The whole system includes the booklet itself, which contains all the categories you would need, along with slots to organize your coupons easily while you shop, and some cool extras like a carrying pouch, mini-scissors, and my favorite, the Coupstacker mat that lets you quickly sort and stash your coupons after you've clipped them.
Since I'm such a die-hard Couponizer fan, I looked into buying some to sell since I am talking about it so much anyway. That is when I signed up to be a Couponizer Coach. Not only do I sell the Couponizer, but I can coach people in how to use it, and how to quickly start saving money.
I've already started helping people save time and money with The Couponizer. I have a couple of cool events that I'm going to announce here on the blog, but I wanted to let you know what the scoop is first :)

Kraft is giving away free packages of Oscar Mayer Beef hot dogs today only! They will mail you a coupon for a free pack, but you have to register before midnight tonight (5/20). The offer is while supplies last, so you will probably want to do this asap before they are gone!
In my Acme deals post, I mentioned some coupon matchups with Coupons.com and pointed out that you can print those coupons here in my sidebar without leaving my page. To the right is a banner for Coupons.com, that either says for you to "Start saving today" which you can click through to go to their page and print the coupons (I believe this is what shows up for first-timers), or there are about 3 sample coupons available for quick print. If you see the 3 sample coupons available to you, then you should see a grey bar at the top and at the bottom of the banner. The top says "see all coupons" and the bottom says "scroll coupons". You can use either of these to display all of the coupons that are available.

For some time, I've been seeing other people mention All You magazine on their blogs, and how it is a good source of coupons. Unless you subscribe to this magazine, I think it is only available at Wal-mart stores. Because of this, I have not had any experience with All You. I tend to stay away from big box stores as going into them automatically makes me want to spend money. Seeing everything from baby shoes to groceries to beach towels makes my weak mind think about purchasing things I don't need. I'm ok with admitting this! ;)
Today I found myself at Wal-mart, returning some duplicate birthday gifts that we got for the baby's birthday. Armed with a merchandise credit and a few items on my list, I got sucked in to 'browsing around' and I found a copy of All You. It was chock full of coupons, so I paid the $2.49.
I just wanted to give all of my readers a heads up that there is a coupon in the magazine for a free Rimmel Sexy Curves Mascara (value up to $6.47). I was pretty happy that there was one coupon alone that more than covers the magazine purchase and I especially need mascara. Bargain Briana has a post about this issue including a list of the other coupons available here if you're intrested.
Looks like I might redeem some points for an All You subscription!
