Tonight's LOST recap - LA X

First off, let me say: cease and desist from reading this post if you are not caught up on Lost. I don't want to spoil you, so you've been warned! :)


I don't know if I can put together a recap in any kind of logical order, as 1. It was our first new Lost in..how long? Not sure if my brain is back to thinking at Lost-level, 2. I'm trying to get my house & packing in order for Blissdom which is just a DAY away pretty much, and 3. I have some type of wicked sinus infection that is working against me. Well anyway, here goes:

- Now we know that Juliet didn't really set off the bomb, it was just a time flash that moved them all forward in time. So how did Juliet (or Miles) get the idea that everything is "right"? I believe it, but that was extra confusing to me.

- I think the "new" plane sequence is really what happens after whatever on-island struggle is completed. I do think that what we're seeing is the end (or the beginning of the end) with everyone alive. That would make for some awesome sequel opportunity, no?

- If that last statement of mine is true, then I'm perfectly fine with Desmond being on the plane. He's on the plane just by 'chance' because he's not down in the hatch pushing a button. (Randomosity: how cheeseball were the graphics of the island underwater? Lost has cheaped us out on some underwater graphics before, I wonder why they can't seem to show them without making them cheesy) Anyway, the only thing that threw a wrench into my being at peace with Desmond on the place is that Jack never saw him leave. True, he might have slipped back up to a seat in first class, but the way they left his appearance mysterious is nagging at me. I also didn't like how he didn't recognize Jack at all. When Jack blows up the hatch, the first thing Desmond says is "You!" and recognizes him on sight. Hmm...

-What was the cut on Jack's neck? I don't know if a screencap is up yet, but it looked kind of like a dart hole (like The Other's crazy blow darts).

-When "Pilot Norris" landed the plane, it was weird to me. I kind of wanted to hear that it was Lapidus who flew 815 this time.

-I cannot claim original ownership of this, because I am just not that smart, but I read on a message board that Sayid coming to life was Jacob inhabiting his body. Duh, that seems so right on. Just the way Alpert was blown away by seeing Locke come back alive, the Templies (you heard it here first, lol) were shocked at Sayid's resurrection. I love it!

-Speaking of Templies I really liked the kick-ass Japanese guy. Just sayin'.

-I am so impressed with all the fans that "got" that Jacob's dark-haired nemesis really was the Smoke Monster. That scene was fascinating!  Love when he says "I'm sorry you had to see me like that" =)  Where do you think his "home" is?  I want to say the Temple, but I don't know if it could be that "easy"?

I'm sure I could ramble on for way longer, but I'm going to go check more message boards. My favorite part of the night:

Jack saying "Nothing is irreversible" to Locke. It just blew me away. It was awesome to hear Jack have some faith again & the thought that he could possibly help Locke from being wheelchair bound in the (hopefully, future) real world was awesome.

Tonight's Lost finale - OMG

I feel like all I said tonight was OMG...Oh my gosh this, I can't believe that, OMG OMG...so I'm wondering how I'm even going to put together a coherent recap post.

There was so much action-packed stuff in this episode I feel like this kind of jumps around and is a bit incoherent.  But I'm talking about Lost, so it is to be expected, right? :)

-At the beginning when we first meet Jacob, the strange cool-hatred between the two mirrored the scene with Ben & Whidmore.   When the mystery man and Jacob had the discussion about all of the people fighting on the island in the past, it is the Black Rock (presumably) that we see out in the water.  So who knows how long this fighting has been going on.  Could it really end now with our Lostie crew in the mix?  It seems like something that might never end.

-Not to toot my own horn or anything ;) but I so called what was in the box and I'm a little bit proud of it.  I think it was last week that I first got the idea that it was the real Locke's body (which I guess wasn't too much of a stretch, since the box was a perfect coffin size, but hey) and then this week I did manage to reply to someone on Twitter early in this ep. that I was sure that it was the real John Locke's lifeless body still inside.  I just can't doubt Richard Alpert when he says that it's never happened before.  You know that man has seen a lot!  So when we found that out, I was pretty pleased. ;)

-Vincent, Rose & Bernard...it was cute to see them, but their scene with the touching little music was a little over the top.  It was sweet to hear the "being together is all that matters in the end" message, but it obviously didn't really sink in for Juliet.  I was so frustrated with her giving Sawyer pretty much her parents' divorce speech.  

-After Locke fell from the window, it looked like Locke was dead before Jacob touched him.  I know there has to be some significance into Jacob touching/handing things to all of our Losties, but I just don't know what it could be.  And I felt like Jacob was really just helping all of our Losties on their way, but what was with him being directly responsible for Nadia's death?  Granted this is the one event that Jacob seems to be at after the O6 left the island, but it seems out of place that he be involved in something tragic.

-Where does Ilana fit into the whole Jacob and mystery man fued?  It seems like she's another Alpert in that she's been around for a while and doesn't seem to age.  I think this because when Jacob visits her in the hospital they clearly recognize each other from the past and she sure knew her way around the island, cabin, etc.  This show brings up so many questions when you get one little answer, why was Ilana in the hospital in the first place?  Is Whidmore after her and the rest of those that follow Jacob?  It seems as if Ben was following Jacob's orders and having Sayid go after Whidmore's people, I am presuming that Whidmore is also doing the same and is perhaps following the orders of the dark haired mystery man?  Did that make any sense at all?

-I have to admit that the "incident" scene was pretty thrilling.  I was waiting for Pierre Chang to lose his hand, but I was pretty darn sad when Juliet was sucked in.  I just wanted SOMEONE OTHER THAN KATE to be there with Sawyer while he was trying to help Juliet.  It is just crappy that Kate manages to throw herself into everything involving poor Juliet, that even in her death scene Juliet has to see Kate in the background of Sawyer.

-Do you think that Jacob knew what was going to happen to him at the end?  He seemed like such a sitting duck, and he must have known something major was up with two people busting into his 'home' like that.  He could have been a little nicer to Ben instead of looking like he'd rather die than say something nice to Ben.  It seemed to me like he thought that it was inevitable.  I read on a message board that the 'incident' just about to happen could have saved Jacob's life and that perhaps it really was Jack's destiny to go back and see Faraday's plan through.  That makes my mind hurt, but maybe the white flash at the end of the episode does suggest that perhaps there is one more time flash to end it all and bring everyone into the same timeline?  Jacob says that 'they're coming' he must mean Jack and the rest of our crew.

-Ok, I feel like I could go on and on with things, and I'm getting super tired and will need to think about it some more, but is the dark-haired mystery man (who some are calling Esau, to imply that he is Jacob's brother and this is some sort of biblically epic struggle) the Smoke Monster?  It would make sense that he is (or is in control of) the Smoke Monster and goes around the island deceiving and destroying while Jacob can go off island and use Richard and the others.  So when Alex appeared to Ben in the temple, it was really just a manifestation of the Smoke Monster, telling him to do everything Locke says, because they are all in it against Jacob?  Again, that kind of made no sense, but I'm going to think about it some more.

Tonight's Lost - Action packed

If you haven't seen this episode yet, don't read anymore or you will be terribly spoiled!


Halfway through this episode I looked up at the clock thinking it was almost over.  When I saw it was only 9:30 I couldn't believe how much was already happening.

I wasn't disappointed by much in this episode, but I would like a quick peek at Frank and the Shadow of the Statue people, ok?  At least we'll see them in the finale :)

Ok, so here's my little recap:

-Richard Alpert carried that compass in his pocket for three years? lol...I just don't get how little he knows about some goings on.  You would think that he knows where Locke is for three years, etc.  Does he really just take orders?

-Sawyer and Juliet were SO satisfying in this episode.  When creepy, terrible Phil hit Juliet, there's no doubt that Sawyer will personally kill him.  I was cringing with terror that Sawyer was NOT going to get on the sub with Juliet, which would have just killed me.  Poor Juliet has been through so much so it is good to see Sawyer stick with her "whatever happens".  Too bad my least favorite person, Kate, had to crash the party, ugh!

-I also cringe when Locke says things like "Aren't I the leader now?" It's like cringe-cringe-cringe, Locke!!  Maybe Richard knows something more than you do about Jacob!

-The scene with Locke and himself...?!?!?  Ugh!  The time thing is so frustrating if Locke didn't already know try to get the O6 back and then die, how could he be there to have Richard help him and tell him that?!  I know, I know, but it is getting so frustrating.  Right after Ben's line "this must be quite the out of body experience" did you see a little bit of Smoke Monster when the injured Locke disappeared??  I rewound and paused but couldn't tell if it was Smokey or just from Alpert's torch.

-I loved the Pierre Chang and Hurley scene...if he spouted those questions at me, I would definitely not have been able to answer them just like Hugo.  I also loved some of those classic Lost little ironic moments like Alpert telling Jack and Kate that "love can be complicated".

-I like the new Jack.  The Jack that has some type of hope and sounds like Locke.  I think his character is finally turning the corner of this funk he's been in.

-Oh gosh!  How heartbreaking was the scene with Miles watching his father "abandon" his mother?  I kind of wished the scene was a little longer, but again we were moving at a crazy fast pace tonight.  Maybe there are more of these "horrible" parents who are doing things for reasons unknown to their children.

-Why did Richard look so visibly disturbed when they swam up into the temple?  It was almost as if he was looking at something on the wall that made him feel really uneasy?  Also, when Ben tells Richard that was why he tried to kill Locke, Richard looked at Ben in a way that creeped me out.  Almost as if Richard kind of thinks Ben should try again?

-Ok, the big one...Locke wants to -kill- Jacob??  I don't think it can be as sinister as it sounds.  Locke was the only one who has seen Jacob lately (in the chair in the cabin, remember?) and Jacob said to Locke "help me".  I think that Locke is either saying that he wants to kill Jacob to fool Ben, or because killing him would actually help him in some way (free him to be the way Locke is now?)...I know it doesn't make too much sense, but that's my little theory.

So next week is the finale and I do not want this season to end (as usual).  It looks like Sawyer, Juliet and Kate don't make it to the "real world" and we are in for an action packed 2 hours....Can't wait!  Please let me know what you think in the comments :D

Oh and can I ask why the computer-generated submarine launch looked so horribly cheesy?  I mean really!!  This is a top-rated show, do a better job here people!

Tonight's Lost - nothing new!

This is a pretty short recap because I have to say that I was really disappointed in tonight's episode.  There were really few actual revelations...who didn't see Widmore being Faraday's father?  We already knew that Daniel tried to warn Charlotte, etc.  I was really thinking we were going to see more Dharmaville stuff hit the fan.  The whole scene with Desmond in the hospital and Ellie talking to Penny?  Was that really necessary?

My big question of the episode is probably going to be the big one of the season...do the actions of our Losties really change all of the events 'to come'?  I would hate to see the show end with 815 landing in LA like it was supposed to.

Faraday being shot by his mother...she seemed to know that that was going to happen, when she was talking to Charles in the hospital parking lot...I don't know, I can't even make what I am thinking make sense!  What was that all about?  I'd love to hear anyone's theories.

I was hoping we'd see a bit of the "shadow of the statue" people/Sun/Frank/Locke instead of repeats of things we've seen (Faraday crying about the plane wreckage, Faraday at the orchid, etc).  Well at least we got to see Richard Alpert again.  I really love that guy! lol

Tonight's Lost - All the best cowboys have daddy issues part 316

If you aren't caught up on Lost, don't keep reading or you will be spoiled!

Is my post title pretty clever or what?  I always remembered the name of that first season episode, because it really made us aware that most all of our Losties have serious 'daddy issues'.  And the ubiquitous 316 in this episode?  I just have to point out that it always reminds me of John 3:16, perhaps one of the most recognizable scriptures, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" which is clearly about a father/son sacrifice.  Now I know that is not new information, but I just get a kick out of seeing the same themes pop up.  I especially love biblical themes, since I really think that something both supernatural and spiritual is going on at Lost island.

Another thing I get a kick out of seeing?  As you know, "dead losties".  It was cool to see Naomi again.  The "audition" scene was a bit creepy.  I hated how you could never get a good look at the dead guy's face.  At first he looked like he could be Richard Alpert (but he wasn't, I could tell that much) then I was wondering if he was "Bram" the guy we later see threatening Miles in the van & also saw last week on the shore of Hydra island with Ilana...But I guess that wouldn't really make sense.

When Jack was wiping the chalkboard at the school, I was able to catch a couple of quick glimpses of "Egyptian", "2000 BC", "phonetics(?)" and there were some little hieroglyphic symbols.  Pretty ironic that the Dharma kids are learning their Egyptian history.

"Do you know what lies in the shadow of the statue?"  That is starting to drive me nuts!  I need to know what it means! 

Poor Phil.  He seemed like a decent guy coming straight to Sawyer to get clocked in the head.

Personally, this episode was a bit of a downer for me, after last week's great Locke/Ben showdown.  It was nice to finally get some Miles backstory, but this episode was so slow for me.  I don't really care about the building of the hatch, I don't really care about the secret Dharma conspiracy (which was the crazy electromagneticism pulling the man's filling straight through his head, like a bullet...my husband had to explain to me), Hurley writing "The Empire Strikes Back" etc.  The best part of the night for me was seeing Daniel Faraday for the last couple of seconds.  Can't wait to have him back! (and how'd he get off the island in the first place?)

But I guess my line of the night is a silly one- After Hurley promises to keep quiet about the dead body Pierre says,  "Well you better....(looks at Hugo's jumper) Hurley!!"  For some reason Pierre Chang's voice cracks me up.  He always seems so angry, it was touching to see him reading to the little Dharma-onesie wearing Miles.  I can't imagine how that must have felt for Miles to see after decades of hating his father.  

Anywho, I guess this episode was good for breaking me into the fact that next week is a clip show.  Here's to a great episode in a couple of weeks.  Please leave me your thoughts (or a link to them) as I love to hear them :)

Tonight's Lost - The best of the season?

This goes without saying, but if you aren't caught up with Lost, please don't read on or you will be spoiled!


Well.  I thought tonight's episode was so fabulous, it is tied for me with "The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham" for best of season 5.  I don't feel like I have a ton of points, but I had chills watching this episode and watching it alone I was pretty creeped out at first! ;)

-Locke already knew that Ben "killed" Alex.  Locke's creepy-calm demeanor tells us that he knows more than he is letting on, but he flat out says to Ben that he doesn't think Ben wants to be judged for leaving the island, but for killing his daughter.  Locke definitely has some supernatural knowledge to just know information like that.

-Whidmore was pretty awful for callously wanting to kill baby Alex.  Of course he doesn't do it himself, but hoping that Ben would do it is just wrong.  Apparently, Whidmore knows something that Ben doesn't about who should and shouldn't be dead, and that interfering with it is pointless, but really?  I still think that Whidmore is a "good" guy, but after seeing this, I give some points to Ben and take some away from Charles.

-Cesar!!  YES!  Again, I don't really approve of senseless killing, but I was happy to see him go.  But how creepy was Ben's duplicitous friendship with Cesar just to quickly turn on him.  Ben really knows how to get information out of people and FAST.

-Lapidus!  Really?  You are just going to leave Sun alone with these kooks?  I am a bit disappointed in you (but I still do have a crush on you, haha).  And look what you get when you go back to the Hydra island, a knock on the head.

-It really is a huge power shift to see Ben so clueless about the island goings-on when Sun show's Ben the 1977 photo.  When she asks him if he knew about this, Ben sincerely seems like he has no clue.  Then to fail to summon Smokey, but Locke knows how to get to him?!  Ben was humbled in this ep. for sure.

-I'm sure they are saving the temple for the finale or something really grand like that, but the underneath alone is pretty dang creepy!  I love all the Egyptian stuff and hieroglyphics that we've seen on the island so far and seeing Anubis (the dog head man) with what looks to be a hieroglyphic of the smoke monster was pretty cool!

-The smoke monster showed Eko his life and then saw fit to kill him.  Why let Ben live?  (Other than good tv ratings?)  It was pretty creepy to see Alex, I think she was just the monster manifesting itself in human form to reach Ben.  After all, Ben said it himself, "dead is dead."

-But the best part of the night???  Knowing that sweet Penny is alive.  I couldn't help but feel a bit touched (in a weird way) that Ben couldn't do it when he saw little Charlie.  Ben knows all too well how losing your mom can affect your life.  And WTG Desmond!  I loved it!

Going back to the boring losties in 1977 will seem like a snoozefest next week, but it looks like we'll finally get a good Miles episode and see Pierre Chang/Mark Wickman/Marvin Candle.  He's one of the ones I love to see ;)

Tonight's Lost - Quick Recap

I have to make tonight's recap a quick one, so I'll dive in with my 'thoughts' :)

-Jack not helping Ben! What is his deal? He's a child, and Miles has it so right on, this has already happened. I knew that Sayid wasn't really "altering" anything. He was just creating the Ben he hates so much.
-Kate is such an awful mom (aside from her usual "hey baby, drink your milk." "c'mon baby, color your book" lol). I just can't get over her lame turnover of Aaron. It was just all so selfish to me, I was hoping for something much better. So Sawyer breaking Kate's heart allows Kate to steal a child for a few years, use him as an emotional crutch and then abandon him? Ugh, it just further cements my dislike for her character.
-Crazy chick that found Aaron in the grocery store. Why were they playing creepy music? We don't know her from anywhere do we? She was a bit of a Claire look-alike.
-I felt sorry for Ben's dad in this episode. I know he's a "bad" guy, but he does seem like he tries in his way. And he's Uncle Rico ;)
-I love when we see Richard Alpert! The mystery surrounding his character is fascinating to me and I loved the mention of Charles and Ellie. So right now they are in charge? And Ben losing his 'innocence'? What does that mean? He brought him into that "temple" that the smoke monster dragged Danielle's people into. And look how twisted and scary they came out afterwards...Creepy!

Ok, so I guess this episode raises a lot of questions, but at least we're moving forward with the whole island story and not just this relationship quadrangle business. Can't wait for the smoke monster next week!

Tonight's Lost - What an ending!

What was most disappointing about tonight's Lost?  That my dvr missed the first 8 minutes. Ugh!  We were out tonight and I had a sneaking suspicion that my unreliable dvr was going to mess up the Lost taping the one night I wasn't home to watch from the beginning.  And of course, it did!


Once I started watching the episode it was pretty solid.  There were none of my favorite elements in this episode (Richard Alpert, dead Losties, smoke monster, etc.) but it was ok for me.  My points:

-I got a chuckle out of hearing Ben say "Mission Accomplished" to Sayid after the last hit.  It just reminded me of George W. Bush...there is no way Sayid's mission is anywhere near accomplished.

-There were a few little Lost-cutesy things like Sayid drinking McCutcheon.  It was great to see how Sayid made it on the 316 plane.  Ben sure gets what he wants & Ilana is a much better character for me!

-People are down on Amy, but I think I would have reacted the same way to a "hostile" in their camp.  This doesn't mean I like Amy, but I'm just saying that I agree with her motherly instincts.  I still find her pretty annoying.

-Ann Arbor?  What's in Ann Arbor, Alvar Hanso?  It was weird to hear the Dharma's mention their higher ups.

-I'm tired of the relationship quadrangle.  The scenes with Kate just made me tired of it all.  Can't you all move on from your super-shallow relationships with Kate and worry about the major crisises at stake?

-Apparently there is some flaming VW bus reference with Back to the Future I don't get.  My brother tried spoiling me on the end of the show when I was a few minutes behind.  Not cool Eric! ;)

-And of course, Sayid shooting little Ben!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!! YES, Ben is a terrible weasel-child, and YES, he will grow up to be a very evil man(?), but how could Sayid kill a poor little boy who is abused by his father and just wants to escape his miserable island life?  I am not sure that anything the Losties are doing now will really affect the "future" or the island in our current time.  If it did, and things like the purge never even happened, Alex stays with Rousseau, etc. my mind would explode and it would take me years to process this.  So that is all I have to say about that!

And my favorite line of the night? When Sayid tells Sawyer that a "12 year old Ben Linus brought me a chicken salad sandwich.  How do you think I'm doing?!"

Tonight's Lost - a nice segue

I know there will be a lot of haters on this episode, but filler episodes have their place.  And while this one segued us into where the Oceanic 6 are, there were a few cool moments.  My faves:

-Frank and Sun.  What an odd pair, but it works for me.  I have to say Frank's super-expert landing of the plane was just fabulous.  I have a bit of a crush on Frank, feel free to laugh, so I'm glad he's getting some airtime.

-The baby Ethan reveal.  It was cool to see Juliet overwhelmed holding the baby she knows will eventually be killed, yikes!

-The hilarity of Jack's work assignment.  Upon watching the episode a second time (my husband had to watch it late, I'm not really that much of a nerd, lol) I caught Sawyer say that he had taken care of the work assignments.  When Jack hears that he's a janitor based on his profiency tests, it is classic Sawyer and Jack bickering.

-Sawyer getting his moment to tell Jack to lean back and let him continue to do his work.  In three years, Sawyer's worked his way up to being the most trusted and respected Dharma employee, why would drug-addicted, alcoholic Jack really think he was more capable of calling shots.  Go Sawyer!  Love to see him reading with his glasses still.

-Creepy Christian hanging out the in the shed, with the smoke monster(?!) in the background.  What kind of journey does Sun have to go on?  Can't believe Smokey was just hanging out in the background pretty quietly.

-The little actor who plays young Ben.  He is spot-on.

Finally, one question.  Where did Faraday go?  So that leaves next week.  Hate to imagine they are all turning on each other, but we'll see.  And please, leave Sawyer and Juliet alone! ;)

Tonight's Lost - Just okay, again

Oh yeah, I guess I should say that if you don't want to know what happens in this episode, stop reading!

After last week's super action-packed episode, I should have known that none would compare for me.  This just seemed like more of a filler episode.  I know they have to fill us in on a bit, but I would have liked a bit more cool stuff and/or action.  There were a few good moments, but I wasn't really feeling the 1970's without fun appearances by Pierre Chang or Ben and Roger Linus (Roger Linus is Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite ;) .  Here are my little points from tonight:

-The Egyptian statue...very cool.  Thanks for throwing that in there for us...I just wish we could have been in that timeline longer.
-Three years?!  Ugh...I was hoping that our 'lefties' didn't have to go through three whole years like the O6.  I guess the upside of that is Jin gets plenty of time to perfect his English.
-Where the heck is young Ben?  This is obviously pre-purge, so I thought it would have been really rad to see him.  Guess they are saving that?  How will it work with "now" Ben coming back to the island on 316 still in this timeline?
-Women always deliver on the mainland?  Why?  There seemed to be no problem with Amy's little boy, so why did the women always go off island?  Maybe there was just something special about this one...
-Does the Dharma Initiative love to serve milk or what?  Sawyer's being interrogated and he's drinking milk.  His 'people' are chatting out at the picnic table and drinking milk.  Why not some Dharma brand beverages? ;)
-Daniel seeing little Charlotte...how sweet!  You can't help but feel sorry for poor little Charlotte, but I'm sure she's not really dead anyway.
-Richard Alpert!!  He makes my night.  I just love seeing him, and my personal theory is that he's an angel.  Yes, I know that it's complicated and I don't really have a very cohesive theory, but that's my theory and I'm sticking to it.  The "hostiles" are angels guarding the Garden of Eden.  Ok, feel free to think I'm a flake.  Anyhoo, I LOVED Sawyer's line "Your buddy out there with the eyeliner"...that for me was the line of the night.  (And by the way, I've looked it up, and Nestor Carbonell does not wear eyeliner.  He is just blessed with an unusually dark lash line.)
-Richard not knowing anything about Sawyer yet.  I love it!
-Sawyer and Juliet?  Jeesh.  But I think that this actually makes a good pair, because both Kate and Jack are so dysfunctional.  Let these two troubled souls finally find a little relationship happiness.  Did anyone else think that when Juliet was making dinner she looked a little pregnant?  I know this is the peasant-toppy 70's, but her belly looked suspicious.  I have to check her out in the previous scenes (like when she was under the van).
-But Sawyer's little speech about 3 years being plenty of time to forget someone...was he just being nice to Horace?  Or could he really be over Kate?  I sure hope he is!

Tonight's Lost - Awesome!

I have to say, I was very excited for tonight's Lost. I love most of the characters and their backstories, but I really do love Locke. He is so beleaguered, and you just want him (and faith in general), to prevail. Once I got past the super-nasty first ten minutes or so, the episode really picked up speed in awesomeness. I will try to put my happy points in some kind of logical re-cap.

1. I love the 'new' plane crash. Not only does it confirm that Christian Shephard is pretty much completely alive the way that Locke is, but I really get a kick out of seeing the new people be wary of him as an "other", try to explore the island, etc. It is just a little irony thrown in to remind us how far our 815 survivors have come. Big question for me tonight, the new marshall said that the pilot and "some woman" took the other boat. Who would the woman be? I sure hope Lapidus doesn't get shot by our Sawyer & Juliet, like we saw in episodes past.

2. Abbadon! I loved seeing him. Can't believe he was killed by Ben (well, I can, but I can't believe that he is dead) .

3. Walt!! I was so excited when I realized that Locke was visiting him. Walt has been having dreams? I wonder what that means for Walt, a comeback? He could have dreams about Locke, but not know anything about his own dad? And is it just me, or did the actor who plays Walt lose his acting ability in the last few years? lol...

4. This episode just really confirmed my own theory that Widmore is actually the good guy. Mel, for one, can you see it now? ;) There is so much symbolism between the "two sides" of Widmore and Ben (like that night scene last season in Widmore's bedroom, where only one side of their faces were showing). The scene with Widmore helping Locke in the hospital, pledging his support for him, having just had Locke's leg taken care of, etc. contrasted so obviously to me with the scene with Ben in the hotel room. Ben spewing lies to Locke, fooling him into coming down off of the table just to steal his information and kill him? I think my theory is really true. :)

5. A couple little nitpicky things still bother me about Widmore though. He has to know about Locke's life story. Was his joke about his parents having a sense of humor just a cruel little jab? Is Helen really dead? I just worry that she's not and they set that up to make Locke follow the plan. And if Widmore really cared for Locke and gave him tons of cash, why would he put him up in the Westerfield Hotel, complete with crime scene-ish stains? hehe

Tonight's Lost - I'm waffling

I'm waffling back and forth on whether I liked or disliked this episode. It was a cool episode to see them get back to the island. But there was just too much that didn't gel for me.

What didn't gel:
-Sun deciding that she needs to get on the plane in case Jin is alive. She didn't seem to get any proof from Faraday's mom that Jin was alive and she's ready to leave her baby behind?

-And the even weirder one, Kate acting strangely calm that Aaron is suddenly gone. I'm sure it is something like Ben took Aaron back to the island and Kate will only see him again if she goes, too. But how would that happen?

-Ben's bloody face and injuries. He obviously got into it with someone, but who? Was it part of the Aaron kerfluffle? Or was he enacting his revenge on Penny? I sure hope that it is not the latter. It is ok that the island isn't done with Desmond yet, but please don't take Penny away to help make that happen!

What was cool:
-Hurley carrying the guitar case on the plane. Did he have to bring something of Charlie's on the plane the way Jack had to bring something of his dad's? Did Charlie convince Hurley that he had to go back (again)?

-Jack's grandfather being alive?! And doesn't he seem suspicious? LOL How convenient that he happened to have a bag packed. There seemed to be so much symbolism in this episode around those darn shoes.

Is it just me, or do you look forward to next week's episode like crazy after seeing the preview? ;) It was exciting to see Locke "alive" on the island talking to Sayid's female marshall. As usual, I'm stoked for next week!

Tonight's Lost - Pretty darn satisfying

I came home from a night out, and my husband was very excited about a "great" episode of Lost. Usually, he is complaining that he doesn't get the show, he doesn't know why he watches, etc. So to hear this really piqued my interest. I asked "do we see Richard Alpert?" because really, I love seeing him. Marc says "no, but better." To which I reply, "hmm...well it has to be either Jacob, Christian, or a dead Lostie" (which I had to explain, I meant a Boone, Shannon, Charlie, etc.) and he made a face that it was clearly one of the above.

For some reason I instantly knew it was Christian. I knew we'd be seeing more of him lately!

Well, anyway, the episode wasn't as through the roof as he made it sound, but in my own words, it was pretty darn satisfying.

The good parts?

  • Charlotte and all of her dying. Wait! Please! Don't think I'm a terrible person. I don't know if anyone really dies on this place, so I was happy that she spit out a bunch of answers before slipping away. Faraday telling her as a child not to come back?! How does that work?! Is Miles going to go soon?
  • Locke and his terrible leg injury. Can someone cut the poor man a break?
  • One of the best things ever was seeing more of Danielle Rousseau's backstory. I felt so sorry for the young Danielle when we met her, since we all know just how terrible her life will be very quickly. I said in passing to Marc while he was starting the tivo for me, "Well you know all of her people get sick and some guy's arm gets chopped off." He was very impressed that I knew that before it happened. How's that for my season one memory? ;) The sickness was so creepy! What was with her husband being so sweet and trying to shoot her within 10 seconds of each other? Very interesting.
  • Missing limbs...they really do pop in Lost frequently don't they?
  • The Frozen Donkey Wheel was off its axis, thus causing the time skipping? Whoa!
My favorite part of the night? Sweet little Desmond asking if Ben & Losties are looking for Faraday's mom. The look on Ben's face was fabulous! So glad that for once there is something that even he didn't know.

PS- Do you think Des recognized Ellie from the weird engagement ring purchase scene in "Flashes before your eyes"?? Can't wait for next week!

Tonight's Lost.....zzzzz

Was tonight's Lost a disappointment to anyone other than me?  After last week's super-riveting young Charles Widmore scene, I was snoozing through this episode of filling us in on things we already know.  Jack & Kate's touching scene on the rescue boat?  Totally unnecessary.  Kate looking at the lawyer in his car 100 times?  Totally unnecessary.

The good parts?  
  • Well, you know what the best part was, right?  Sawyer watching past-Kate and Claire during Aaron's birth in the jungle.  I thought he was going to cry.  I thought I was going to cry.
  • When Ben glibly announces, "he's my lawyer."  As if we weren't already suspicious.
  • Second best part of the night?  Jin meeting the young and pregnant Danielle Rousseau and realizing on his own that something really fishy is going on.  Oh wait, knowing that Jin is alive...come on now, did we really think he was dead?  
  • Faraday asking Miles if he was sure that he hasn't been on the island before.  I kind of thought Marvin Candle's baby could be a little Miles.
  • The bombed future-beach and crazy canoe chase scene.  I don't think shooting at that other canoe was a good idea...it could have been yourselves!
Ok, so really I just had beef with the Oceanic 6 action.  All of that looks like it could have been worked into next week's ep.  Here's to next week!

Tonight's Lost - More questions, as usual

Well, I guess if you wanted answers, tonight was not the night to get them! Instead I just have a bunch of questions...

What the heck is up with Faraday? Was the blonde 1954 "other" the sister of the woman that he messed up back in London? When he said she looked familiar I was either thinking that sister that Desmond spoke to (but she'd be too old, right?), or maybe Charlotte's mom? And why didn't she move her mouth when she talked? lol
Update: I read that Mrs. Hawkings' (the crazy old lady from The Constant who would seem to be Faraday's mom in Los Angeles) first name is Eloise. The blonde's name in this episode was "Ellie", that would be an easy fit. Maybe she looks familiar because she's his mommy!

Who cares what really happens to Charlotte, but my question is: is Daniel really in love with her? Is he sincere about anything?

Des and Pen's little Charlie...named after Charlie on the island or Penny's dad? I'm sure it's "our" Charlie, but it's just ironic.

The best part of the night? When Locke stumbled upon the young Widmore...I was so tickled by that one!! And now seeing how calm and civil he treated Desmond, is he really the bad guy? Is Widmore the good guy and Ben the bad one?

Maybe Sun is the one that has it right.

I've already been all over DarkUFO to try to find some answers...someone mentioned, is the h-bomb what was behind the concrete wall in the Swan station? That seems a little severe to me...after Desmond turned the key, no one would have been able to survive...but this is the island we're talking about. Sigh.

Does anyone have any answers?

Life is on hold when Lost is on

Sigh. The new season of Lost has begun. And when Lost is on, it has a tendency to consume my thoughts. I don't know why, ever since I started watching Lost in the first season, I got sucked in to the trippy-ness. If you are not aware, there are message boards upon message boards of super eager fans posting all of the cool hidden clues (called "easter eggs") and debating their theories of what's what.

Back when I worked the 9-5, it was almost impossible to do anything the morning after Lost. While I should have been catching up on the previous day's emails I was sneaking over to DarkUfo's really cool site and watching freeze frames of Lost and emailing them to my like-minded co-workers. I know! I'm terrible.

When I was in the hospital with Rayna, two days after she was born, I was stressed that my visitors were not going to leave in time for me to watch the new Lost.

Ok, enough embarassing confessions for one post. You may not have noticed, but I was so amped for Lost to start I even missed Works for me Wednesday! But one of the reasons I love Rocks In My Dryer is that Shannon loves Lost, too. The one thing I would share with her Lost-lovin' readers is one of my favorite Lost-related blogs. This is not one where you will find any real spoilers, freeze-frame images, or any of that stuff. What you will find is a little poking fun at Lost-serious-ness. The Misfit is Here always had funny posts on the imdb message boards for Lost, and I loved when he started his own blog. Yes, the punctuation will drive you mad and yes, it might just be a waste of time, but his site always makes me crack up. My favorite post? His recap of There's no place like home.

PS- My thoughts on last night? I loved seeing Ana Lucia...I was just telling my sister that I love when the dead ones pop up! I was really hoping for Boone, Shannon, or Eko though. And I'm stoked to know that Desmond seems to be a really important guy in this season. I *love* him!
